Carpentry is a crafting skill concerned with the refining of raw lumber from felled trees or logs, assembling objects from many smaller components, and the creation of certain larger wooden items. Carpentry is required for most furniture. Logs, planks, and chunks of wood are much more useful to carpenters than simple branches and sticks.
Objects made with the carpentry skill usually require a saw or hammer to be constructed; depending on the item, it may also take nails, wooden pegs, or more specialized woodcutting tools to complete. Attaching tool heads to their handles, making a crude wooden sledge to transport heavier goods, or assembling a standing loom are also examples of carpentry. Elaborate wooden items tend to require both carpentry and whittling to complete.
